This page explains what OCTANE MOTOR GROUP LTD, trading as BikeSide, does with personal information when you browse this website, contact us or place an order. We are the data controller for that information.
What we collect
What you give us: your name, billing and delivery addresses, email address, telephone number, order details, and the content of any message you send. What the site records automatically so it can work and stay secure: device and browser information, IP address, cookie identifiers and how pages were used.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
To perform our contract with you — taking payment, delivering orders, providing tracking, handling cancellations, returns and refunds. For our legitimate interests — preventing fraud, securing the site, answering enquiries and improving what we offer. To meet legal obligations — keeping accounting and tax records. Where we rely on consent, such as optional marketing, you may withdraw it at any time.
Newsletter subscriptions
If you choose to subscribe, we store your email address and a record of when and what you consented to in this website’s WordPress database. We use these details for BikeSide product news and restock updates only with your explicit consent. Subscribing is optional. No external marketing service is currently active.
Authorised BikeSide administrators can manage and export the subscription list. We keep your live subscription record until you unsubscribe or an administrator removes it. You can withdraw your consent at any time through our newsletter preferences page or by emailing contact@bikeside.co.uk.
Unsubscribing deletes your email address and consent record from our live newsletter list. It does not change your account or order records. Any exported copies remain BikeSide’s responsibility and must respect your choice to unsubscribe. If you subscribe again, we ask for fresh consent and record the new date.
Payments
Payment is handled by the provider shown at the checkout, which receives what it needs to complete the transaction under its own privacy terms. We do not store full card numbers.
Cookies
Some cookies are strictly necessary — the basket, the checkout, signing in, security. Others, where enabled, help us understand how the site is used. You can restrict cookies in your browser, but blocking the necessary ones will stop parts of the shop working.
Who else sees your information
Only the suppliers who help us operate: payment processing, hosting and security, carriers who deliver your order, email delivery, and our accountants where the law requires. We do not sell personal information. Where a supplier is outside the UK we take the safeguards UK GDPR requires.
How long we keep it
Order and transaction records are kept for six years to meet HMRC requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept for up to two years. After that, information is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may ask for a copy of the information we hold, ask us to correct or erase it, object to or restrict its use, or ask for it in a portable form. Email contact@bikeside.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Children
This shop is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices or the law change.
